Hello!
My name is Christine Maddox and I am the sole Reiki Master Practitioner and Master Herbalist at Pau Amma Reiki & Apothecary. I am a certified Professional Life Coach, Master Herbalist, and Master Practitioner in traditional Japanese Usui Ryoho Reiki, Crystal Reiki, and Animal Reiki and I am always striving to learn more about wellness, healing, and the body-mind. I also graduated with a Sport’s Medicine degree from Pepperdine University in which I learned more western medicine modalities in terms of injury prevention, injury treatment, and how to treat your body (and mind) “well” in order to perform at your personal best.
Ever since I was a young child, I have instinctively known that the universal life force energy was out there, even though I did not know how to voice it. Whenever a family member would express pain and discomfort, I would place my hands on them to “make the pain disappear”. Little did I know, I was slowly being pulled on the life path that I am today as a Reiki Master. Through college and learning more about the human body, my interest in eastern medicine modalities grew and grew, which is where my Reiki journey truly began.
Through my life, college, and post-college life I have always played tennis at a high level to the point of finishing my college tennis career as being ranked #1 in NCAA’s in Women’s Doubles and then continuing on to play professionally for the following 2 years. Through my tennis journey I have accumulated many injuries, some chronic, in which the search for the “perfect treatment” was always on the top of my list.
Since practicing and utilizing Reiki combined with western medicine modalities, I have been able to successfully treat a lot of my chronic pain from my injuries to the point of having many pain free days with the help of my homemade, herbal, frequency-infused, body recovery formulas.
Flash forward to the present🔮🔮🔮 and I can truly say that I am so excited to share my excitement about the ultimate duo of self-care: Reiki and Herbal Magic. I truly hope that by spreading Reiki and my body recovery formulas from Pau Amma Apothecary to as many souls as possible, I can create that same sense of relief for others that I have felt through the Universal Life Force and Mother Nature.
Many people ask: “Why is your practice called Pau Amma Reiki? And what is with the crab?”
Well, I will first start out by explaining why our logo is a crab made of an infinite spiral. The spiral is one of the oldest symbols in existence. It can mean growth and evolution, infinite possibilities, and can push its viewer to be flexible when things change in life. Just as the spiral allows us to expand our thinking, so does Reiki energy.
As far as the crab part goes, I believe that we should all create a home within ourselves, just like hermit crabs carry their homes on their backs everywhere they go. Once we feel “at home” within ourselves, we are liberated and we will always be comfortable wherever we go because we are our home. This is why our logo contains the infinite spiral crab. Wellness, Reiki, and consistent Self-Care are very important steps in creating a “home” within yourself, because YOUR body-mind is the only body-mind that you will ever have in this lifetime, treat it well and it will treat you well.
As far as the name “Pau Amma Reiki” came about, the first part “Pau” means “Peace”; in which you should always strive for peace in yourself, for when the world seems chaotic, there is no reason for you to join in on the chaos. Also, “Amma” means “Mother”, which means that you should always treat your body-mind as your child; take care of it, nurture it, and give it plenty of love.
“Pau Amma Reiki” is a call to action, as much as it is a hope for wellness, for when we give back to ourselves, we can then give back to others.
I am so honored to be able to start and/or continue this journey to wellness with you. We are all on this learning path together, and I am excited that we can begin the process of “spiraling INTO control” with the universal life force energy.
